What is Miscarriage?

Sadly, miscarriages are a common occurrence, with up to one in five pregnancies ending before week 20. This is little consolation when you have lost your much-wanted baby, and you will likely be feeling quite heartbroken as you come to terms with your loss.

Types of Miscarriage

There are several different types of miscarriages. Depending on your symptoms and the stage of your pregnancy, your doctor will diagnose one of the following:

Causes of Miscarriage

Miscarriages are devastating, but what can also be difficult, particularly if you’ve suffered several pregnancy losses, is not knowing what caused your loss and searching for answers.

Early pregnancy loss is such an individual experience, that the treatment and procedures around it are different for everybody.

While most pregnancies result in the birth of a healthy baby, in some cases soon-to-be-parents are told the heartbreaking news that their unborn child is ill or has a condition that is not compatible with life.
